Koh Ker is located in Preah Vihear Province, 117 km from the capital city of Angkor Wat. Koh Ker is the name of a complex that was once a major ancient capital before Angkor. It is home to the largest complex called Koh Ker National Park, which is a World Heritage Site. Many temples are found here, including Prasat Pram, Prasat Neang Khmau, Prasat Ang khna, Prasat Damrei, Prasat Chrap, Prasat Chamres, Prasat Banteay Pichean, Prasat Linga, Prasat Balang, Prasat Kok Sokum, Prasat Chen, and Prasat Thom, all collectively referred to as Koh Ker. On this cycling tour, we will pick you up from your hotel by car to take you to the Koh Ker temple group, where we will begin our cycle ride at the checkpoint area within Koh Ker. We will explore numerous temples hidden deep within the dense jungle together, and we will also visit ancient indigenous villages along the way.
Koh Ker – The Khmer Pyramid Temple
Koh Ker is a 10th-century temple complex situated in the northern jungles of Cambodia. Once serving as a capital of the Khmer Empire, the site is currently isolated and densely forested. Its central structure, Koh Ker Temple, features a seven-tiered step pyramid design. The massive rectangular reservoir, Rahal Baray, provided water supply to the entire complex. Among notable structures, there is Prasat Krahom (meaning “Red Temple”), renowned for its sandstone carvings; meanwhile, Prasat Pram is enveloped by banyan trees.
